Super Economics
Feb. 23rd, 2014 10:45 amLast night I mostly dreamed about Charles and Eric and a bunch of teenagers and kids setting up a mutant colony.
Only they didn't have like a whole island nation to themselves, they had maybe an island but one of the teensy ones, which everyone left because the economy went away, so the fresh start for mutantkind is like a row of terrace houses on a beach. Eric and Charles are moving into separate houses, but they can probably still hear each other through the walls. Kids are at least two to a room. The beach may at some point reclaim the houses. But hey, mutant freedom, with fresh air and a view.
It seems like all the stories start with 'right, so, imagine this billionaire with a mansion'. Like, Batman or Avengers or Professor X. Only, why does a billionaire with a mansion want to change the world? He's got his. Sure, you'd hope he'd notice some things need doing, but mostly? It's going to be the people on the edges pointing out they're about to go off the cliff and something needs done about that.
So mutants in a terrace is only kind of the same story.
... I think it's easier to imagine that story.
