Talons of Weng Chiang arrived today
is fun
lots of running around and swinging from scenery
Leela is fun, but not as pretty as Ace
I do not envy her wardrobe. Victorian in this case meaning big mutton sleeves. Very odd. But still fun, her running around in that and trousers and a silly hat as the Doctor's way of trying to get her to fit in. So he explains she was found floating down the Amazon in a hatbox.
Now he's sketching on a tablecloth. Says sleep is for tortoises.
A lot of the fun of the Doctor is he has this total disregard for social rules, even though he understands them and can use them if it suits him. He walks into a situation and always manages to fit in but also stand out, like he walked into the theatre and started showing off magic tricks. Insane, but just barely appropriate to the setting. And he is like that everywhere. The bit where he's ancient and knows everything is useful for the adventures, but the fun part is where he can just act like that all the time and see nothing wrong with it.
Subtitles are possibly a bit off. They say 'time ancients' but it makes more sense being 'time agents'. Like Jack was.
I couldn't take the Really Big Rat seriously. I kept on calling it Roland.
Was a fun story.
checked email first and had a message finally straggle in from the 26th of last month, talking about NB and ASH at Kulture Shock. Was all, aiiieeee! Must have missed an announcement! But no, thankfully, it was a pretty please connected to Collectormania appearances.
ASH should be coming back to Norwich soon. I hope. They think.
Would be cool.
