BSG 2-05
Starbuck pretty. Very, very pretty.

okay, two seasons, both of them Kara ends up in the hospital. I'm getting hints of refrigerator. I might be overly sensitive.

"Could you love a machine"
Data. Andromeda. Hell yes.
They're asking the wrong question there, says SF be.

"You'll see her again"
yes, because killing=freeing
which is why I now wonder about whatserface, Cally is it? (Kali?)

Reckon they're also pulling in American history, dude that shot JFK got shot.

Starbuck the breeder?
This is the wrong context to explore that. Very wrong. I mean the fleet has the make babies priority. The planet is trapped and abandoned.

Now Starbuck has childhood trauma?

Fuck this. To hell with this.

Okay, the DCU has traumatised me, I know, I might be being oversensitive. But I have had *enough* of strong women motivated that way.

I know I've dropped the spoiler cut, I'm sorry, but I need a second opinion because I just stopped the episode right there. Is this worth watching? Someone tell me why.
ETA: I put this back under spoiler cut. I'm still pissed off but I finished watching the episode.

Starbuck was *entirely* interesting enough without this shit, and the story heading this way hits me the same way it did when they did it to Grace. Strong, sex positive woman? Got to have a trauma.

To hell with that.

Someone tell me I'm over reacting, please. Someone tell me the whole context here makes it all different. But you'll have to be really convincing, because I have absolutely no urge to finish watching this episode right now.

*goes to read spoilers*
*hears no one else even notice this bit*

*goes back to the episode with great trepidation*

She says she'll lead them to Earth, and Adama says 'no one that stupid'. Er, Adama, they were when it was *you* saying it, dumbass.

There are layers of problem with her choosing the ultra-religious path publicly. Makes it a contest between fundamentallists.

oh eeeew, new scar, obsession with breeding? Thats so gross.

So its Cylons that reduce her to breeding stock, okay, yeah, simple feminist version of evil. I can see why they did that, even though it does make me sick. But her reaction says its the writers that have decided to add the Horrible Trauma. That makes me a whole different kind of sick.

Nicely graphic and gross killing there.
I think its a bit too much, but hey, very accurate spurting.

If killing them makes them wake up somewhere else Starbuck shouldn't have more than a moment before her escape is noted.

I don't get it. In what sense is the situation so desperate that killing all of them is the only solution? I mean there is a resistance army, couldn't they do the rescue thing?
And yeah, here they come to the rescue. So that bit of sabotage surely wasn't necessary. Right?

Especially with Boomer's help.
Wonderful.

So that Boomer will be the first back to the fleet. The one who switched boyfriends. Wonderful complications there.

only a third? I was expecting at least half.
guess it depends on pilots more than democracy.

Leoben told them Starbuck has a destiny
that has many layers of both interesting and creepy
specially because now either they kill off Starbuck destiny free (which since I bet they've stolen enough from her to breed with wouldn't even work, because the destiny could be progeny) or they prove Leoben right

*wonders why Starbuck is wearing an Atlantis uniform top*

I don't like Starbuck's longer hair. I don't like the tearful farewell or the acting like her shag is true love. I intensely, intensely dislike the Horrible Trauma. As of this episode I feel like Starbucks been gutted. I'm probably over reacting. I'm probably adding this to the pattern made in the DCU rather than only the context of this show. But right now I feel like every inch of this episode was entirely wrong for Starbuck. Except for stabbing the Cylon. That part worked.

Outside the cut I will say that I found Starbuck entirely sufficiently well rounded enough from first season. Her strengths and weaknesses were the same - Outside the box is where she lives. Completely nuts and completely competent at once. Nothing needed to be added to that. *This* sure as *hell* didn't need to be added to that.

Right now, I am very annoyed. I stopped the episode in the middle for significant time and I very nearly didn't finish watching but the spoilers made it sound like the episode pulled itself together again. But no, I still hated it by the end.

I don't even know if I'm overreacting. I just hated it.
