Dreams and noises

Haven't slept much, they're doing things to the floors and it is much banging.

Dreamt I was trapped in a house with Captain Cold, and we had to call in the Rogues to help, but Mick brought the Legends too. And Mick was from After, so he was all angst. Like, he was pretty sure he was going to save Len that day, but he'd have to let him go again too, and this is not his best day.

Also, the bad thing? It was frozen deep cold when Mick got there, but somehow still moving. So he hit it with the heat gun, and when it thawed? Len!

Mimic things are the worst.

So we were in this house, lots of statues and shiny stuff, looked like the rich stuff house. But everything was doubled. Mirrored, exactly and precisely. Bilaterally symmetrical house, windows, doors, landings you could see the inner lobby from. Two of everything, down to the rugs.

Except for right near one end, near the fireplace, where there are two, four, eight of some things.

Namely the rugs we were standing on, Len and me, when I met him there.

Little round things, look out of place, especially arrange like that, like a row of doubles and then turned around sideways down the middle. The exact middle of the room.

So, what has happened, turns out to be like in that Farscape episode with the doubling machine. Hungry thing is hungry, but sneaky. The original two of us it let go. Our mirrors though? It can keep feeding on our mirrors for ages. Those are the ones it won't let out.

And if the whole house is doubled down to the molecular level, that means there will be things in the kitchen our mirrored selves can actually eat... but not anywhere else on Earth. Even if we kill the Bad Thing we're as trapped as it was.

Say it was a mirrored thing itself and needed to translate us to eat us. Kind of logical. Like, I'm still not signing up for that, but, you can see how it might need us.

Doesn't explain where the energy to do the thing came from, but it might have magic logic. It's draining us of something instead of just eating the meat parts, it might need us to convert chemical energy to the sort it needs. Like molecular manipulation is real easy for it, but the world is still backwards and a thing has needs.

Seven of Captain Cold seems awfully ambitious. You wouldn't want more than one of him for an enemy. Not at once.

So probably the Bad Thing has ate all except one of us.

Which is a problem.

But say the Rogues and the Legends work together to save the day. Specifically Hartley was there. Which isn't the most obvious with all that mirroring, but does lend a possible answer to 'where has Hartley been since dinner with family' that isn't all Flashpoint and prison or something else that erases his personal progress. He caught a lift on a time ship and has been missing for a week or years depending where you're standing.

And they get out of there with one nearly drained me who can die tragically while explaining the plot to them - my dreams are helpful like that - and one alive me who is pretty sure about the mirror thing and would remember the thing with the food...

... and one alive Len.


If he's backwards then he'd need to stay with Gideon's food processors, like it or not.

And he can be from anywhen after he got the Cold gun.

And if we want, he can remember.



Or! Two alive Len! One who can go back to Central no problem and one that has to stay on the ship. Because that's just a recipe for stewing in resentment. ... and can keep two sets of 'shippers supplied...



So, mirrored house full of mirror Bad Thing.

I didn't come up with a reason for the mimic thing, maybe all the backwards versions get possessed or something.

But there's plenty of meaty plot in there.
