I'm reading a soulmate fic and the point of view character is freaking out about not having met their soulmate when they'd lived such a large part of their life already
and they're in their twenties.
Earlier they were all, what if they were only just born? By the timeI'm they're adult I'll be forty!
And, like, yes? And?
I mean statistically that's half way. They'll live as long with them as without them. That seems cool.
But there was this stupid line about life just being prologue leading up to the meeting
and no
that's not even how it works in the concept
you've got to become the person that would fit them that well.
In this no soulmate marks universe here, double epic so, you live all the minutes because you are living them, not to wait for something, just to become yourself however you are that day.
I suspect the author is young.
... I should go looking for stories that know about the other half of your years...

Ugggh I couldn't agree with you more!!! That's so stupid that in isolation I'd assume it was clearly meant to be wrong and something the protagonist would LEARN was wrong! But apparently no.
