Feb. 9th, 2019 10:25 pmI bought an eink ereader to read epubs on for longer
it took me two hours to figure out how to put Frankenstein on it
and as far as I can tell the only way to make it work
is to sign in to an account
which syncs everything
so the makers are watching you read
which I didnt anticipate and do not want.
might be sending it back.

Date: 2019-02-10 01:31 am (UTC)Let me know if you have problems getting calibre or setting it up.
having read bits of faq and watched a video
Date: 2019-02-10 08:58 pm (UTC)like it keeps mentioning a content server to access your books from anywhere, but that sounds like same thing I did not want
whole topic is more complicated than expected, many buttons, much being connected
Re: having read bits of faq and watched a video
Date: 2019-02-10 10:27 pm (UTC)I set up my calibre on my desktop computer. I made a folder on my D: drive called "Calibre Library" (or maybe it did), and that's where I save my AO3 downloads, Project Gutenberg books, etc.
When I buy a book from Kobo it shows up on my device automatically, but NOT in the folder on my computer, I have to DL it from kobo.com to do so.
For something from Gutenberg or AO3, I save it to my Calibre Library folder, then open Calibre. I then have to "Add Books" to bring it into the Calibre window, and from there I can upload it to my plugged-in device.
Does this make sense from what you're trying to do?
