Magicians dream
May. 4th, 2019 06:58 pmI still don't watch this show but I keep having dreams where I rescue all of them?
So this time we'd gone to meditate and while everyone else was sitting down and getting comfy I did a magic around my ears that flattened out the frequencies, which I can imagine being very handy for people with frequency based hearing loss, but then I also added some static, which seems less useful. Up until the meditation music knocked everyone else out. So I slumped down when everyone else did to be sneaky, but I saw the two people leading the meditate just go around the room doing something.
And then everyone got measles. Like, super measles, super fast. So I cast to cure it, but it kept on reinfecting as fast as I cured, do I did one of the cleaning spells that takes the disease out of the whole room. That was working. But difficult. One spell with each hand, continuous casting, contest vs the disease spells.
But the woman saw me and was all oh, you've got your hands full? And then she started kicking Q in the head. Just, like, casually, because she could. Kick. She's all the way across the room. Kick. What you going to do about it? Ki- BOOM.
I blew her head off.
Had to drop the cleaning spell but it does take care of the mess when I start it up again.
... never make assumptions about what the healer is also packing.
So the guy is screaming and going wild now, but the lady was apparently the one doing the sleep spell, so everyone else starts waking up, and after that it's over fast. Some headaches, and I'm exhausted, but mostly everyone is cured.
So then there was some volunteering to help me recharge that ended up with a cuddle pile falling asleep, so, you know, nice dream, eventually.
Being the kind of spellcaster that had done the Cleaning spell so often they could do it one handed while maintaining a more complex spell, that's someone who does that spell every day, probably several times a day. If I could do a spell guaranteed to make a room clinically clean I'd probably do it like a twitch, like wiping the surfaces before you make a sandwich, like never touch anything without casting that spell. Which would be Too Much, obviously, but, that's the kind of person who would learn that spell and use it. Obsessively. Remove Contagion and Clean are just... really tempting spells.
There was also a lot about running to avoid floods, or finding shoes to run on the resulting ice sheets, or hopping between icebergs when the ice sheets break up. Plus there was someone who needed to talk to a dolphin so we ended up on the seaQuest.
I just looked up seaQuest and the first season was set last year. We could be talking with dolphins and having undersea colonies by now. That would be cool.
... I haven't watched that in ages, I'll put it on the list.
But: that was a neat dream, except for the splodey bit.
And the kinds of spells people will pour serious time into are going to vary per person.
