Reading a fandom where there's the one human guy surrounded by supernaturals, and filtering so the human is the favourite. Yaay.
I like the big difference in ability, metaphors my experience as a disabled person.
But the more I read the more I'm finding the favourite thing to do with him is
make him someone else.

or something else.

Like, leveling up in his own character class, fair.
suddenly gaining ten levels in something with bonus superpowers?
isnlt that what literally every other character is for?

I don't get it.
Like, they like him already, and he's human already, so why is what they want to do for him all about giving him special abilities?

I set these search parameters so a badass supernatural being would fall in love with someone so much less powerful and able than him, because what they can do is still worth everything to him.

I am not keen on the approach of 'fixing' the power discrepancy.

I mean I too have sat here with a stack of rpg rulebooks and pondered what I'd level up in given the chance, but when playing with pre existing characters it seems an odd approach to take?

Just ... let people be people. In the story because people like them. That's enough.

I once wrote a 22k fic (MY LONGEST EVAR!!) because I was sick of Dr Who fans making Rose magic so she was equal to the Doctor. Fuck no, make him live on a housing estate for a bit!
