Jul. 30th, 2019 05:26 amI continue to read werewolf romance and be somewhat puzzled at myself.
But I'm getting clearer on the appeal by bumping into stories that make me want to throw them across the room.
Like when one guy ends up alone because everyone left and he's kind of relieved because he decides he was too damaged to ever try to have a pack
and I just
no
nope
does not work that way
I will read several hundred versions of socially faily traumatised werewolves learning to have a life and friends and family After
but I will absolutely refuse to consider
too damaged to try.
Everyone can try, and figure it out together.
None of this giving up and being alone.
Or even giving up and just being a romantic couple, that's... not today's point, romance isn't everything and getting cut off from so many relationships is like a lot of breakups and ow.
Also, am uninterested in stories that treat the one couple as everything either of them needs. OTP in this fanfic binge apparently means One True Pack.
I don't want to read about breakups and ways people fall apart, I want them to fix it all and figure out how to stay together. Chosen brothers and family and pack and pairing too.
It's difficult to search Ao3 for stories about forming a team or a pack or a crew and how indispensible they are to each other, because it's quite a bit filed by romantic pairings. Pack Feels is a good tag but not a required field, you know?
So apparently what I'm getting out of these fics is coming together as a pack with a bunch of romantic pairs but all threaded together into a larger group who decide to embark on life together.
And also everyone getting better after The Bad Thing, which, there are several bad things to go around, is this fandom all trauma all the time? Probably.
It's why I don't want to see any of the characters killed or anything, they should all figure out the good stuff instead, stories about people getting killed are pretty boring cause they don't have to figure out how to do that.
And they don't need new and more painful After.
I still don't know how I've ended up reading in fandoms I don't watch but it's interesting to do and figure out the patterns.
Now I need something almost like this but with actual adults.
