now *this* is all about unique voice
characters and plots, all unique
I liked some quoteage from Zatanna
"There wasn't much to being a superhero.
It was all about finding yourself in a position where you're the only one around who can save the day."
which is why its a really uncomfortable job, being a hero. because what if you don't want to save that particular day? what if you'd rather read a book or something? But you can't leave it to someone else.
police and ambulance and fire trucks and all that have to deal with that too. I mean in general they can leave it to other emergency service people, but when they turn up and something needs doing if they don't do it it doesn't get done, and very bad things happen.
of course that's true for everyone all the time - do what is needed or bad things happen - emergency service people just get the training, equipment and backup so they can be running to all the needed places. but if they don't be getting there, regular people get to be the superhero of the hour.
not comfortable. I much prefer boredom.
"If risking your life could save the lives of everyone else, what would you do?"
simples it up a lot. I liked what I read about Doom Patrol - the whole team died to save 15 people they never even met. That's getting right down to cases. Save the world is always a no brainer- its where you keep all your stuff. Even evil!Spike can figure out saving the world is of the good. But saving a dozen people? A half dozen? Just the one, and you have to risk your whole team?
Then is when you have to figure out what is the right thing to do.
Emergency services don't save the whole world at once. But they risk the team to save the few, every time. Like firefighters go in to find the one person in the burning building. Real hero people they.
So that's the big thoughts section.
In the less big thoughts - she couldn't wear even a jacket this time? I mean fishnets, yaay, but everywhere? Does she not get cold?
Anyways.
Seven Soldiers: Zatanna, all good.
Frankenstein, on the other hand, spent the whole issue setting up the bad thing, and none of it making the title guy a character. So, nice creepy scary story, but no particular interest in the character yet.
Yes, I'm saying too much plot. Wierd.
Shall see what happens next.
