Doctor Who

It's 0746 and the fire alarm went off for two seconds then seven seconds, again, like every Friday lately, but very early
not that I was asleep this time.
Last night I watched School Reunion, Girl In The Fireplace, Rise of the Cybermen, and Age of Steel.
With long gaps after the first two because
my heart
all the feels!
I mean first School Reunion breaks your heart, and then again when you remember the real world and it's just extra sad now
and then
Girl in the Fireplace just speed runs that same sadness
and you go from oh hi new person to argh I was using that heart in a single episode.
The cybusmen aren't exactly a bunch of roses either.
I mean on a Doylist level I'm not exactly keen on what they did to Jackie. In a world where she's childless because she didn't want to ruin her figure, she dies horribly being made just like everyone else. That's the story they decided to tell. That's the whole actual story? Ugh.
... also I am older than Jackie now and I am not keen on that.
But all the heartstrings it aims at are indeed tugged on
plus the scary with the screaming and all those robot arms and ugh
and then the ridiculous over the top of the horror, with the music
It makes it very very difficult to much like the Doctor or Rose right around now.
I mean, Mickey's right, he can't chase both of them and it's never going to be him?
And the Doctor left him holding down a button and forgot about him to make smug stories time?
But nearly died so the words let that be a lesson are etc.
Mickey's great though.
And Ricky.
Also I had to check the wiki because the version of the ending I actually remember turns out to be a deleted scene. The boyfriends line. Oh well.
Not keen on how man dead black men we get. Again. Put one in charge then kill him off? *sigh*
It is a very deadly two parter though.
But also Mickey and Ricky's story, raised by gran because their dad left, that's sounding a bit familiar? I realise it didn't get exploring then but... something a bit awkward about that.
But with the four episodes in a row, you get the grief from those left behind, the grief of him doing the leaving, *and* how he's absolutely terrible at this. Smug and insular and so sure he's right. But entirely happy to give away ten years of his life or risk everything every time for anyone. He's sort of really bad at being friends and really good at it at the same time.
And, again, there's grief.
Because so many met and lost.
But also he gets offered god like powers and then takes a turn in gingerbread house land. I mean who has more lost to look for? But he didn't. He doesn't. He's not up to calling himself a god.
today.
but lonely angel gets to him.
There is a lot going on with this show. Even when they're running around acting unsubtly and trying to take the bit with the horse seriously, there is so much going on.
It's a bit brilliant.
