Have decided that 'Earth Final Conflict' is fun enough to watch on purpose. 'Alien Nation' also.
'Tru Calling' persists in irritating me. Today the plot was med students, flatliners. *shrugs* whatever. Thats the thing, I'm so totally not caring about the damsel of the week, the plots are all *shrugs*. The regular characters, Tru and Davis and Harrison, they're okay. I liked at the end of the ep where he told her he knew what she was. That was cool. Because it punctured the thing that irritates me most about Tru - whether she's living the day over again or not, she has this attitude like she knows best. I don't know if thats the precise phrasing for what annoys me about her, but its something like that. She doesn't go in to things with an open or questioning attitude, she charges in to fix things, demanding answers. She annoys me. Which makes her show difficult to like.
Still, I'll keep watching. I heard it got better before they cancelled it, and I don't think its close to that point yet. Better might make it good. Right now, watchable, given that future rec.
also I realised
I think it bugs me because all the bad guys are just plain old nasty humans. no metaphor in between. No supernatural. There's the thing where time rewinds, but thats just the trick that drives the plot, not the whole magic and possibilities layer that say Buffy has in it. This is why I don't watch regular detective shows. Tru is regular detective but with a chance to both have a murder and stop it from happening. But it still bugs me anyway.
