I've been poking Pathfinder rules for inspiration again.
also running the dishwasher and the laundry
and trying to ignore whatever power tool thing is going on in the hall.

I was looking at Pathfinder Story Feats and trying to persuade myself I don't need them all.

Story is the best bit, obviously. Especially when I'm the only one playing with the ideas. So these Feats that imply a whole story arc for a character look grand.

But it would make a much more coherent story to just pick one. Only. One goal, pursued successfully, one story.

... I have narrowed it down to three right now, which I guess at least makes a trilogy.

I want to be all the characters and do all the things at once. I shall get back my memories and find my lost person and become Linnorm King and try the Test of the Starstone. And close the Worldwound and show everyone orcs is cool and maybe make the river flow all year. And start a new religion that sorts out the tiny problem of mixed religion marriages ending up in separate heavens. The Good Place has that one covered but Pathfinder only did it as a tragedy. And I'll fix Galt and uncover the secrets of the executioners and free all the trapped souls. And... well, I haven't read all the chapters yet, I'm sure I'll think of some more.

But all of those are different books and different characters, or could be easily. Whole Adventure Paths and campaigns devoted to them. So if I want to get any one particular frqction of story done it needs more focus.

... but I still wanna.

I was looking at Leadership feats, and I decided I like Recruits because then you have a handful of students and get to bring more when you learn more, instead of just having like Followers and one single Cohort. Sure it's fun having a sidekick but having a whole class seems better. And the Downtime rules for teams means you can get as many people working for you anyway with a time and money investment. Sure they could quit, not so personally devoted, but still, people.

... I want a Kingdom and a whole network of charity Sanctuaries and a Bard Academy and places for all my friends to teach too. So I'm reading the downtime and kingdom rules a lot.

When I went looking around the internet I found people complaining a lot about how you have masses of gold and nothing to do with it. But they obviously have not been playing Kingdoms. Or trying to build a temple or something. Always more to do if you're trying to do for a few tens of thousands of people.

Granted the core rules focus more on like killing dragons, but even there, followers got to be doing something.

I have some plot ideas and some interesting twists and so forth, but due to the thing where currently the plan always works, I think it needs a few more whatsits. But it's all fun stuff.

... I mean I say the plan always works, I started out poking the Reincarnate spell so another way to look at it is the plan goes crash smash at least three times so far, but since one then becomes a new and interesting species that didn't feel like failure.

I have some bits of plot I don't know where to put yet. People to save and things to do that would work easier if I was purely making stuff up. But I'll figure that when I get to it.

I am not fond of the power tools, I hope they are done soon.

I'll go and read more things.
