I am increasingly frustrated with the very crashy rpg I have been playing
but this time not for crashingness reasons.

Turns out once you get to the last chapter it
(a) kills one of your team. no options, no fights, no chances. kills.
(b) fills the levels with creatures that hit you in the exact way that character was likely designed to defend against and
(c) changes the rules about rest.

So now you are very vulnerable, very getting hit a lot when a minute ago you'd got the hang of it, and suddenly finding out what all those scrolls and potions are good for.

If, big if, you had them with you. Sure Bokken has been warning you not to leave them in a chest all game, but this is the first time you're going to really want to have listened to him.

So you stomp around a very frustrating two layered map that tries to kill you a lot and will NOT work unless you take specific dialogue options that very much look like you'd start a fight. And an important npc you've met before turns up but I still havent figured out why. And if you ask the wrong question at the wrong time you make someone boil, which is gross. Doors wont unlock and chests wont unlock and it's really frustrating.

And basically you learn exactly how useful that one dead character was.

Though it could be worse. Pretty sure everyone else might have got killed around then too. Doing the character quests right is very much necessary, but there's so many other ways to do them it seems likely some dont make it.

Which is Frustrating.

This game does not seem well signposted sometimes and I could be much better at it a second time.

... which, given how often it crashes, happens a bunch, but, I'd have to start from before the chapter to really do things right.

So you get through it, and then you're told to Hurry.

And it doesnt tell you what timescale of Hurry it is? Like, is it combat rounds, minutes, hours, days? Has the time rules changed along with all the other tweaks?

But you hurru, and I left a door unopened and it's bugging me.

And then it just straight up curses you to lose almost all your spells, and roll really poorly.

You just got all the way up to this level, where is the fun in having to start over?

But okay, stomped through that pretty swiftly.

Fine.

And now I am in the Final Battle, which is in a setting that would be awesome if it wasnt so damn frustrating.

The city is all twisty now, which, great, very good visuals, huge stakes, should be good

and I am just trying to figure out where the interactable points are, which bits are doors, where you can climb, and how tf to get to the next bit. Not to mention how tf to figure out if you've already been there, because for the first time in the game the whole map shows even if you habent walked on it.

There's things that dont show up until you've done a dialogue option. Can get stuck because you thought you needed all three pieces but you can't go looking for the other two until you give him one. It's... it's too much fuss to be fun.

So just when my characters should be getting really good at this stuff, I'm getting frustrated and wishing I'd bought every healing potion the game ever offered me.

Also, the food in this game doesnt work logically at all and it's anmoying.

So part of me wants to finish this, go back, and do it again better
but
it is so crashy.

Crash crash crash.

Much of me also wants to stop playing.

But it is big boss battle time now, so, not so likely to stop.

I remain bored with the combat and frustrated with figuring out which spell to use in the middle of combat.

Maybe I do not like this style of rpg after all.

But the story is grand and I like that plenty.
