Doctor Who Ruby Road
Dec. 26th, 2023 11:21 amI watched the new episode hours ago and I still have the song stuck in my head
which is sort of not cool given the topic
but does prove it is catchy.
I liked the Doctor spinny dancing in a kilt and all the running around untangling things
and the foundling theme and the little dip into alternatives
but I always dislike it when there's An Evil Race.
I mean that isnt a new problem but the problem with dehumanising doesnt go away if theyre not actually human. Just inventing a bunch of baby eaters to kill seems bad.
In my own head I'm already connecting it to Big Finish stories where theres things that eat Possibility, and obviously with Weeping Angels who eat the life you might have led, because the whole thing with seeding a timeline with bad luck and then stealing the unlucky baby seems a bit complex if what they're actually eating is meat. Also the whole ship full disappeared when the biggest goblin got stabbed which isnt what generally happens, so lets call it Time Stuff and handwave it.
But still. Evil race. Ugh.
I was very happy with the new Doctor, who did that Sherlockian clue reading thing but with heart and seeming interested.
All the character stuff was good.
But I remain tired from yesterday (xmas meal and muppet movie with family)
so I had to pause it a bunch and deal with it in sections and also watch with the sound off
so I'll have to have another go when less tired.
Which is happening a lot lately, but I'm mostly doing reading books so attempting new TV is A Lot.
