I am feeling a bit Bad about not liking things and reviewing them anyway
so I shall just say
anyone who has Actually Finished A Story
especially in the last decade
is so far ahead on points
(specifically ahead of me)
that I feel like adding 'but well done for getting to The End'
(since I have one first draft where I used an rpg unit for a plot outline
and not a heck of a lot else.)

But also, some books are better than others and it helps to know which is which, so.

Finishing a book, let alone multiple, is indeed a skill.
Writing a good story is another skill. Rarely related.
It's like, I'm very impressed with people who can run a marathon
but I don't want to spend a couple of hours watching them do it.
And that's besides the fact I personally can't run at all.
Painting a house is a worthy skill but watching paint dry is depressing.
Impressive skills are not necessarily entertaining for all spectators.
