and it is trying to do a diversity
but I feel like it's doing a racism
only I only know about said cultures from listen watch reading very similar stuff
so I don't actually know if bits are accurate.
It bothers me when a story with a universal translator suddenly decides to drop untranslated words in and have one set of people doing voices like they can't communicate clearly or chat fluently
because they can go all over the universe understanding aliens completely
but somehow the words and voices happen on 'other' bits of Earth.
It's like how phonetic spelling only happens for people the author thinks are different, like their class and region gets standard english spelling and everywhere else gets their accents typed up. Or books where the protagonist narrator says they don't have an accent and seems to believe it. Everyone has an accent, standardised spellings happen anyway.
