Highlander episode : The Vampire
Duncan says he is an educated man. He doesn't believe in vampires.
Alan Bains, the vampire chaser, not only believes but tells everyone who'll listen to him.

Duncan has extra reason not to think vampire, even if they did exist. He felt the presence of another Immortal. And while he knows people do indeed climb out of coffins, he also knows what kind of people. His kind.

See that bit of knowledge could easily blind an Immortal to other possibilities. A Buffy style Watcher knows of vampires, demons and magic, and therefore knows there are a range of possible explanations - such a large range that you get times like in the Puppet Show when they're barking up the wrong tree entirely. But in Highlander there's only one explanation known to a newbie Immortal. Duncan has been called a demon. He knows how people react to his kind, with superstition and fear. So it isn't so hard to just stick with what he knows and reckon all the stories are true - but truly about Immortals.

Bains has that same blindness but from a different angle. He believes in vampires. He also believes they can be invisible, or create illusions, or maybe hypnotise people. And he believes that crosses, holy water, and a stake through the heart will stop them.

So he stakes Ward, and Ward returns the favour.

Seeing only what you expect to see gets you killed, but knowledge is power.

Other than that - snappy dialogue wasn't really a Highlander forte. 'Get my point' jokes and stakes are unmixy. But the episode is okay to watch.

There's some nice use of black and white in clothes and sets, for added drama. And the location for the Quickening is color coordinated. Plus, pretty fireworks.

Also, I love "Everyone's a critic" as famous last words.
