Richie's really looking for something to believe in
or, to put it another way, Richie is more impressionable than wet cement
;)
I like the guy, but that part of him is a weakness sometimes
wants a place, a person, a Teacher (I know he has Mac, but he is still looking)
But at the university, not seeing a place for himself. not that kind of teacher? or just not thinking of himself as that kind of student? Thinks they're all rich. Thinks he came from nothing worth having.
angry, frustrated
looking for something. a way to be.
he is supposed to be about 21 now.
He keeps hitting the edges of this Immortality business, coming up against things he is told he can't do, feeling maybe like it will take 400 years to be an interesting kind of guy.
Richie is so far ahead though, in the opportunities and in how fast he is learning. He *could* travel, he *could* go to university (assuming he could get funding). His late 20th century self lives in such abundance.
Mac, at 21, wasn't even close to Immortal yet. Just living a very small life and thinking that was the whole world.
Richie feels small on account of he can see how much world there still is.
And he is looking for spiritual answers, not just knowledge. University didn't get his attention. Talking to a priest did.
This is an interesting Richie. Interesting character.
Entirely seperately, the Quickening...
