I've heard that all my life... actually, a friend's husband went to a British public school and we tease him unmercifully for NOT having had any such attention.

My very hit and miss research leads me to the conclusion that what happens varies between schools, between years and between individuals.

1) I've heard of gay guys who felt like they were the only ones not getting any at school, because it would actually have meant something to them. Which sort of ties in with my experience of an all-girls school, and is how I wrote Richard's character in 'A Fine Moon To Die Under'

2) Then there are the gay guys who have a great time playing with whoever they want (Andrew in 'A Fine Moon...' and James to a lesser extent as well).

3) There are the straight guys who got involved with other boys at school and hated it, which I haven't used.

4) Then there are the straight guys who see the same thing as just part of growing up (Taj in 'A Love Story In Four Acts' and whatever the longer story's going to be called).

5) Of course the same thing applies to any other group that's set slightly apart from the rest of society (Griff's response to Taj would be that his first kiss was off a guy in his first AmDram group and what's so unusual about that?)

I really wish I could find a reason to get Taj and Griff comparing notes on their lives before meeting Susan in the longer story -- I've come up with so many fun ideas for them over the weekend.
