Eons ago, I wrote my Ripper part 0 - the prequel for my Ripper series. It brought Wesley back from the dead and put him in charge of the Watchers. But it also skimmed right past the details of how that worked, because it wouldn't be relevant to Giles and the main plot of that story. So there was to be a Wesley story that explained all.

That... hasn't so much happened.

But I had a big bunny for it.

I even wrote one scene.

Wyndam-Pryce senior has brought Wesley back from the dead, thinking he was rescuing him from hell. But Wes reckons he was in heaven. So he and Buffy have this conversation bonding about this new shared experience. But Buffy's contribution is that "heaven lies". And that isn't something Wes wants to hear, because what Heaven told him was that the soul is eternal, Illyria and the others were not killed in that alley, and they all could be saved. So he's been going all office-crazy-obsessive trying to find all the things he needs to get them back.

So Wes and Buffy team up and go to LA to rescue Angel and the rest.

Problem - LA had a little bit of an apocalypse. That one Wes helped spark off.

But the army, helped by Riley and his lot, and a whole lot of new Slayers, have it all contained.

So Wes and Buffy meet Riley and head into the quarantine zone that used to be LA.

Around then theres kind of a 7 circles of hell theme kicking in.

The outside layer full of refugees, stuck in limbo because they don't know for sure they could get out, and demons trying to leave get killed. Anyone who was 100% pure human left long ago. The ones still stuck inside don't quite count as pure, on someone's scale.

Anne, previously Lily, formerly Chanterelle, is one of the ones organising the refugee camp.
She isn't sure she could get out. Vampire bite, hell dimension, zombie cops. Taking money from Wolfram and Hart. Who knows if that had any lingering effect?
But mostly she doesn't want to leave, and leave so many good people behind.

I'm not sure on the details of the other rings. I'd have to look stuff up and think up plots to go with it.

But I know Connor and the Groosalugg are still inside.

Along with a lot of demons who had just been minding their own business, but can't get out past all those humans, so suddenly its their apocalypse too. Since most of them were running away from hell dimensions in the first place, they aren't best pleased by this.

So thats Connor, Wesley, Buffy and Riley and the Groosalugg and maybe Anne running around LA on a quest for useful bits, fighting demons, to get to the center of this new hell, the alley that last fight happened in.

Which, to fit the theme, is all frozen over.

Wes, Connor and Buffy have to power the retrieval somehow. Partly because they are the three who were close to the lost ones, but also because betrayal. Those three feel they betrayed them.

There's probably blood involved. Its always blood.

There's also the handy thingy Angel used to figure where Cordy was, that W&H took and presumably kept in their vaults. So it would be buried in the rubble.
Along with the remains of Hamilton.
I thought it would be kind of fun if he turned out to be immortal, and just squished in the rubble. Wes could retrieve his head as a handy portable adviser. Head in a box is always amusing.
... to... some people...

There's also issues of who else would go along and why. Loads of disposeable newbie Slayers, some army guys, some random demons Groosalugg (the former monarch) is the leader of now... Willow? Xander? Not Giles. Faith usually goes with Wes and rescuing Angel, but that would put both the senior Slayers in LA at once, which could be a problem from the Watcher point of view. Also if Faith is there she kind of takes up all Wesley's Issues space, and I want to put him back with Buffy for a while.

Trouble is, writing any of it means writing tons of characters I've not put much thought into. I think it could be all kinds of cool, but I also think it would need someone not me to make it so.
Which is basically why I stalled out on writing it.

I could attempt to find a writing partner, but since my contribution would basically be all that plot bunny up there and maybe some encouraging noises... seems unworky.

I always have this trouble. I love the worldbuilding, coming up with the setup, the whole LA=hell post apocalypse bit, but the actual words on paper part?
*sigh*

so, anyways, plot bunny up for cowritten type adoption. apply within.

or just say if the bunny looks interesting. whatever. is all good.
