Couple of thoughts - music continuity: I'm thought the music in the bar when Mary picks up Tosh is the same as when Owen picked up that blonde in the first episode. "Broke into your house last night" again. Thrifty! And linking the two events, both alien bad things. And with word relevance to what Mary was doing to Tosh's brain. Picked up on teh internet? Shyeah - like Tosh doesn't google herself!
... Mind you, if Sato is really ubiquitous, it's probably harder than my name.

ANYways

recurring plot elements ... once again we have a human possessed by an alien. But this time nobody speaks up with the whole 'look! trapped human! must help her!' bit. Also, Jack just kills her.

In-story, this would be because they had very little time and limited resources, once Mary walked in and especially once she grabbed Tosh. Jack used what was to hand to end her.

He didn't send her back to her world, and having thought about it I can see why - with a working transporter she could come back any time. With a human body and a lot of knowledge of humanity she would raise questions and have a lot of data. And with the apparent cooperation of humans in sending her there, if her planet has any authorities to piss off, they're not going to like whoever was aiding and abetting. And if there are no authorities, maybe there would be friends who would also like to play tourist. Two person transporter, she could ferry them here and never risk losing it. Earth could end up a haven for a criminal element that was already a proven, albeit small scale, threat.
If he'd managed to capture her, she'd still be a problem. What to do next? Keep her in there forever? She's already hundreds of years old. And if she actually needs human hearts to live on... are they going to take teh responsibility of feeding her?

So I can see the logic in just killing her. Limited resources can't lock her up, or risk the consequences if she gets loose.

Did Jack think all that that quickly? Or is this math he's done long ago and decided applies pretty much all the time?

Out of story... poor used Carys gets freed from the alien possession. Mary? Nobody ever spent a moment caring about her. Why? Because she was a whore? Bit sick.

Note - all previous logic as applied to Carys applies here. Using a body without consent, using it to have sex - alien possession as rape. Once again with Torchwood people getting muddled in it.

What pissed me off was up until the alien turned out to be evil, she was such a good match for Tosh. They had a happy snuggly thing with talking and thinking they're pretty. Nothing wrong with that.

But then the alien randomly goes from "No! Must not go to Torchwood!" to "BTW, always wanted to get into Torchwood", with a further BTW she eats hearts for NO READILY APPARENT REASON just kind of thrown in there.

That last was so easy to fix. New human body gets shot, needs replacement parts, only the repair is a bit shoddy so needs new bits every year or so. Easy SF fix. As it is she's just a nutcase who eats hearts. Or possibly a refugee from the wrong genre.

I don't like this episode.
I don't think it was well written.
And I really hate what they did to them.

But it wasn't suckily put together.
Bit padded at the end, maybe, looked like it came in short.

Tosh got some words backwards to the usual grammatical order. I did notice that. That could be considered an actor error. But then it would have to be an editor and everyone else error too to end up in the episode.

Ianto I've heard complaints about, like he was too emo or melodramatic or too poetic... I'm like, do I critique you're inner monologue? And it isn't emo if you've got actual *reasons*, which Ianto in actual fact really really has. He's just depressed and hiding it real well.
That other bit, the "not again", some people are linking to Lisa and so thinking means that he has feelings for Tosh, but I'm not so much thinking that is what it means. I could be wrong. But Tosh was the one in hostage situation last week, so there's a fairly straightforward "not again" right there. And Lisa, yeah, but that would be more like Mary being in danger / a danger to others. Situation echoes but seeing the Tosh/Mary as mirror to Ianto/Lisa. So I'm not seeing Ianto/Tosh from that. Friends, not /
... I hope. I'm going to be really annoyed if they pair everyone off het and save Jack for the Doctor. Just on general principals, annoyance. I want some actual slash here!
... I know I'm not the boss of them, but I still can complain if I don't like it.

I have no complaints about the acting though. I've never had any complaints about the acting. I in fact get all grrr and defensive when anyone else has any complaints. All perfectly good acting far as I can see.

I want Captain Jack back.

In fact I'm probably going to get the DW DVDs out and rewatch soon.
Possibly while building a happy denial 'verse where that's the real Jack and I don't have to put up with all this other stuff.
