So I watched the first disc of the DVD set of Miracles. I think I bought it on rec, because I can't remember hearing anything about it.
So far it's kind of... I don't know, kind of mild? Maybe?
Okay, there was a burned person, possibly my 'mild' got reset in the wrong direction... erm, what do I mean then...
Not a whole hell of a lot has happened. Personal scale, even for a whole plane full of people.
So far very hug and share.
The twists aren't twisty. Due to over familiarity with genre, I'll grant. But there's a certain point past which it becomes a surprise if a character *isn't* a ghost, and that's about the third time they're in a room and only the title character reacts to them at all. I spent the whole episode waiting for her to talk to anyone at all, and then she didn't, and oh look, ghost! Surprise!
Okay, she left phone messages, but that just means two characters of weird.
On the third episode, and so far we know tiny, tiny amounts about two main characters and only some fairly standard portents about another. I guess this is meant to build mystery.
If I didn't have the whole set already I'd be looking for reasons to watch the next disc.
... still looking ...
Oh, also? Use of disabled person to be uber creepy? Not loving it.
It's three episodes in a row that there's been health issues and miracle cures on the table though, so seems like a Thing.
But really, it's like... They set up a disability where the person can't talk, and then have something possess them and talk through them. And I'm like, this is creepy! This is just... just because someone can't move doesn't un-person them! Get out of there!
Which I think is maybe the point?
But it bugs me.
It's possible this will turn out to be not quite my sort of thing. I mean there's been running and chasing, but no actual fighting, and where's the fun without the fighting?
Though I do admit to having previously complained of too much fighting, so.
Main characters have hints of Issues and Secrets and Stuff.
And one of them has a bullet in the brain. Has a little card to prove it. That's just nifty.
So I'll watch the next disc.
But I'm not sure what to like about this at all.
