I am planning my summer Big Museum Expedition. Because in summer I can go with my employee for a whole day, but not overnight, and there must be lunch break. So I have been to see renaissance art at the National Gallery, and I went to the V&A to look at jewelry and Asian art (giant shiny Buddhas!). In theory I could go more than once a year but I seem to need a run up and then I hide. *shrugs*

So! Looking for things to look at this year. A thing in the newspaper caught my eye for British Library Out Of This World exhibition about science fiction 'but not as you know it'. The suspicion it is as I know it is part of why I want to go. :eyeroll:

But looking for other museums nearby I found The British Museum is on the same little map. Museum Mile, they call it. Still seems like a lot of London in between to me, but, I could go to The British Museum this time. They have many many many things, many shiny, and a Fudô Myô-Ô , buddhist dude with sword and handcuffs. I like that dude.

I could go back to any of the places I been before cause I didn't get to see the whole of them, not even close. Also, many shiny things, yes. Also I could go to the Natural History Museum or the Science Museum. Very many plenty things to see.

But today I quite like the idea of the British Museum.

Today: V&A

I went to the V&A museum and looked at Many Things
I saw the jewellery room and the asian rooms except for china which I think was closed
I saw very very very many shiny things
and buddhas
and shiny buddhas

and now I has tired

to get there takes 4 hours. to get back takes 4 hours. looking around while there was 4.75 hours. Before all that there were two hours of waking up, and after all of that there have been two hours of phoning mum to prove I survived it and then having a bath because London is very full of London. And humans. MANY humans. Possibly more than in my whole home town crowded in to the train station today. I took my coat off for thermal regulation like a sensible person but then there were lots of humans and lots of London and I spent the last hour coming home on the train thinking of having a bath.

so now I'm typing this and waiting for food to microwave. then I must wait for it to cool.

long day is loooooong.

but I saw shiny shiny shiny shiny shiny. They reckoned they have 3500 things and since I looked at all the ones that were out I may have seen that many. diamonds and rubies and amethysts and sapphires and many things I forget the names of right now. some my favourite things though were in steel or iron. in the jewellery room. very nice stuff.

also I saw a suit of chain mail made with three different color metals in complicated zig zag patterns. I got my torch out so I could see it more better in detail. Was very good.

In the India room there were stone geometric patterns you could see through, really really nice.

I bought postcards but I can't show them on the computer. You can look on the V&A website though. They have many shiny things there.

But seeing them in person was worth the travel.
