Star Wars, and The Matrix
Oct. 29th, 2006 02:02 pmI'm watching the limited edition original trilogy :-)
Remastered disc. On my 32" TV. With the colour and brightness turned up. Okay, so the skin tones are a bit weird, and the makeup, but the skies and sand and robots all look very very cool.
... It probably says something about the movie that lack of skin tones is not, thus far (chapter 8), a problem.
Unfortunately all this about 'looks really cool' is only true for the version the box calls 'remastered'. The original theatrical version looks like hell even if I leave it letterboxed. I think I'll have to watch it on the computer, where I can safely make it real small.

Okay, I decided I hate the special edition enough I purely cannot watch it, so we've switched to The Matrix.
Everything looks wrong on the revamped versions. Like, really really wrong. Annoys me very much.
... subtitles on The Matrix fall off the bottom of the screen if I set it to Zoom. The booklet says not to watch things letterbox because... I don't even know, something about the screen going Horribly Wrong. But is the only way to watch it with subtitles.
I've 'shrink'ed it on the DVD and moved it up so the subtitles are under the actual picture. I like that much better, but the booklet says not to do it. Annoyance.
Why does technology be such a pain?
