strange bunnies

beccaelizabethI just caught a plot bunny that turned out to be Connor/Groo.
Which is just... huh? Since when does my brain do that to me?
I was just collecting a whole bunch of characters to fight evil now AI is... unavailable, and Groo is logical, and so is Connor. And then I started realising they have so much in common. The whole thing with growing up in an alien world as an unrespected species, the bit with not really knowing what species they are, the part where their identity is/was defined by their ability to fight. Just so much. Which, obviously, leads inevitably to sex.
brain. huh.
Also I realised post apocalyptic fic can be fun. S5 leading to global apocalypse would really really annoy me, because it discounts the efforts of all the people not Angel in the world. But s5 leading to *local* apocalypse, that would be fun. LA as no man's land after a war games style gang war only with demons. (yes I've been reading a bunch of Batman recently, but with demons would be very different). If the army in the alley went away when AI did, LA is saved, but where's the fun? If the army was just the tip of the iceberg we get stuff like the dragon making a nest in the ruins of W&H (because that's where the treasure is). Panic, mass attempts to evacuate, not just from the human population, break down of any semblance of police control, break down of consensus reality when the demons get undeniable. Huge fun. Army cordon around LA, trying to take it back with land troops because you can't just bomb the crap out of an American city. Nasty, grinding conflict.
Also, Riley. Because now it is his area of expertise.
And a dozen or so Slayers that can make it to LA on very short notice (like the ones that were backing up Andrew). A Watcher, but not Andrew, because he is in Rome. Any random Ats person you want to leave trapped there. And absolutely no rules or hope of rescue. Like pressure cooker plot.
Connor would be stuck trying not to go completely psycho Destroyer again, but needing to just to stay alive. His new family may or may not have got out. He might not even know.
The Watcher and the Slayers have a total bias against demons, because tradition, training, and dreams. But Groo would be fighting the good fight, and there would be alliances to be made.
I just have a head full of character dynamics now that would be really fun to play with. But I'm not going to go there. Because I have at least 22 in the G/E series to write. Which is obviously more important.
So far- 3143 words. in the story before the story before E even turns up. *sigh*
