Highlander: Raven: Full Disclosure

so now we get an intro to Amanda.
I was thinking about the first ep, and thinking that it only made sense to do it that way if (a) we were in Nick pov and (b) Amanda was the mystery that needed solving. But that doesn't really work, because here it is, the story of immortals, and we know she's a thief, and now we lack mystery. So they just decided to give them two intro episodes, in a way that de-emphasised the Immortal/Game part of the story, despite that being *the* distinctive feature.
This plot was very plot like. Meaning it lacked character, emotion, or depth. Okay, there was that little flashback bit where Amanda got tricked into bombing the place. But if it were Highlander and this were Duncan, that would be the central focus of the story. It would be a blemish on his honour that he would have to resolve. Or it would be part of a dark time where he did things he thought were necessary but now regrets. Whatever the details, we'd get how he *felt* about it. We don't get that much about Amanda. She's not as well drawn in this, where she is the title character, as she was in the series where she was the off and on comedy love interest whatever.
So I don't see what this series is *about*, except for little adventure plots. This is why I say it lacks depth and character. The plot is a whole bunch of things happening. There is no underlying metaphor, no moral dilemma.
Blah.
Oh, classic moment we should have got a why for - Amanda speaks Navajo? Why? What did that guy dying mean to her? What part of her past was she drawing on to say what she said to him? What *did* she say to him? Wolf doesn't know, we don't know, and the story is the poorer for it.
Also, the sword fight was... well, I guess it was okay. But I noticed some moves which felt like they didn't belong with those particular weapons. I became convinced that it wasn't F. running it less than half way through the fight. This might be because I'm scary obsessive, or it might be not as good a fight.
The camera keeps on doing really annoying things. It tilts and twirls and basically acts like a fairground ride for no readily apparent reason. We did stuff in class about how camera tricks tell the story. Well, here it looked more like cameras were just doing stuff because someone had a bunch of nifty buttons. The camera added nothing to it.
And I really hate the music. Its boring, its repetitive, and it has nothing to do with the story. The story would make more sense without the music. That's anti the point.
Also I have a really big nasty headache even though I took painkillers already. This may well color my responses to all the above.
But I do not like this series so far.
I do like Amanda in black leather. So onward to episode 3.
